We found the O-C diagrams for 202 Cepheids to be parabolic, making it possible to calculate the observed rates of period changes of these stars, which proved to be in a good agreement with theoretical predictions. Evolutionary period changes in Cepheids are not monotonous. They reveal themselves as cyclic variations superimposed on a progressive trend. These cyclic variations, in turn, seem to result from frequent abrupt period changes reflecting random fluctuations in pulsation periods.
