The possibility of missions to observe comets and asteroids is discussed, including comparisons of previous missions to the moon and the moons of Mars with possible missions to other minor bodies. The stages of exploration, and information that would be gained from rendezvous with asteroids and comets are examined. It is suggested that a program is needed to survey typical bodies, followed by a rendezvous mission and laboratory analysis of samples brought back to earth.
