A test is made to argue that the luminosity-surface brightness correlation found in eye-selected samples of cluster dwarf galaxies is probably merely the result of selection effects. The test involves the comparison of the apparent magnitude-surface brightness plot of low surface brightness galaxies and the absolute magnitude-surface brightness plot for the same galaxies. It is concluded that there may be large numbers of low surface brightness galaxies in clusters like Virgo which have parameters different from those usually studied.
