The Gemini Deep Deep Survey (GDDS) is designed to measure redshifts for galaxies in the range 1 < z < 2, the epoch of peak star formation activity. This project was the motivation for the implementation of the Nod & Shuffle mode of the Gemini Multi-Object Spectrograph (GMOS). Over 100 hours of GMOS queue time during the past two years has been dedicated to obtaining spectra of galaxies selected based upon their photometric redshifts in the four GDDS fields. We also have secured ground-based infrared and Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) high-resolution imaging to identify the morphological characteristics of our spectroscopically confirmed galaxies residing in the "redshift desert".
