We present a preliminary analysis of the 1 square degree region of the GALEX Deep Imaging Survey (DIS) that coincides with the Bootes region of the NOAO Deep Wide-Field Survey (NDWFS). The DIS provides far-UV (1350-1800 Angstroms) and near-UV (1800-2800 Angstroms) photometry to a depth of 25 AB magnitudes, while the NDWFS consists of deep BWRIJK images. We have further supplemented these data with deep U-band imaging. The UBWRI data reach AB magnitudes >26, while the J and K images are somewhat shallower. The combined DIS and NDWFS datasets provide photometry from 1500 Angstroms to 2.2 microns, making them ideal for determining photometric redshifts and deriving properties of the galaxy populations at different epochs of cosmic history. We use these data to investigate the star-formation and extinction properties of the population of UV-selected galaxies at z=1.
GALEX (Galaxy Evolution Explorer) is a NASA Small Explorer, launched in April 2003. We gratefully acknowledge NASA's support for construction, operation, and science analysis for the GALEX mission. The NDWFS is supported by NOAO, which is opperated by AURA, Inc., under a cooperative agreement with the National Science Foundation.
