A large number (c. 14,000) of published and unpublished observed positions of the major satellites of Saturn over the period 1967 to 1983 were collected. Theories for the satellites were fitted to these observations and improved orbital elements derived. From these and the elements determined by previous researchers, corrections to the mean motions were deduced and then compared with the determinations made by other authors. An indication of the precision of each series of observations is given. Comparing the best fit intersatellite root-mean-square residuals it is seen the largest values are when Iapetus or Hyperion is one of the pair of satellites. This indicates that their theories are possibly in need of further improvement. Semi-major axes calculated from Kepler's third law differ significantly (except for Titan's value) from the observationally determined quantities, suggesting a systematic error of scale in the observations.
