The authors show that the true axial ratios of clusters of galaxies (of the order of 0.4) are considerably flatter than those of elliptical galaxies. Moreover, the difference between the oblate and prolate spheroidal representation of the real shape of galaxy clusters is not significantly large. The flatness of the clusters seems to favor the Zel'dovich pancake picture for the birth of galaxy clusters.
