Recently solar-like oscillation has been observed in red giant ɛ Ophiuchi (G9.5III). At the same time, astrophysical observation has observed a set of frequencies, the position of ɛ Ophiuchi and the large frequency separation, 4.8 μHz.
According to the data of observed oscillation frequencies and the position of ɛ Ophiuchi in the H-R diagram, the method associating to the calculation of the stellar evolution and the stellar oscillation has been used to constrain originally parameters of ɛ Ophiuchi, including mass, age, mixing length and metallicity.
In the paper it is only considered how to select the suitable initial mass and chemical abundance, especially metallicity and the mixing length to let the model reach the observed position of ɛ Ophiuchi from the zero age main sequence in the HR diagram. The data of the model are utilized to calculate the oscillation information. If the computed frequencies fit the observed frequencies well, the information of the interior structure and the important parameters of ɛ Ophiuchi, such as mass, chemical abundance, age and so on can be got. At last the mass, chemical abundance, and age of ɛ Ophiuchi are roughly limited.
