We present results from recent observations of the intrinsic UV absorption in the Seyfert 1 Galaxy Mrk 279. We have obtained simultaneous observations with FUSE (90 ks) and HST/STIS/E140M (40 ks) as part of a multiwavelength observing campaign designed to probe the mass outfllow in Mrk 279. With the high spectral resolution of these instruments, the blueshifted absorption is resolved into a complex of several distinct components. The high signal-to-noise ratio allows the accurate deconvolution of the velocity-resolved covering factors and optical depths for each of the doublets appearing in absorption (C IV, N V, O VI). The covering factors are found to vary as a function of velocity and are correlated with ionization. Using the velocity resolved optical depth solutions, we explore the link between the UV and X-ray absorber. We also derive constraints on the individual covering factors of the background continuum and emission line sources using the full set of Lyman lines in the far-UV spectrum.
