Long-term monitoring of the X-ray source associated with the nucleus of NGC 5128 has produced the most complete light curve in any frequency band for this peculiar active galaxy. The X-ray data indicate activity on at least two time scales: (1) a slow outburst with a time scale of 4-7 yr, (2) superimposed flares with a time scale of 20-50 day. This pattern of behavior is related to other X-ray active galaxies: specifically NGC 4151 (Seyfert) and MKN 421 (BL Lac). Some similarities are noted.
