Results are presented for UBV photographic photometry of 368 stars to a limiting V magnitude of 16.6 performed to examine the reality of the Galactic cluster NGC 2527 and to seek fainter extensions to the main sequence. Star counts are discussed which reveal no significant radial number-density gradient with respect to the expected cluster center. Color-magnitude and two-color plots are evaluated for probable cluster members, and 28 additional candidate stars for cluster membership are found. The results obtained indicate that: (1) NGC 2527 may be described as a loose open cluster of Trumpler class III-2m; (2) the number of cluster members is more than 50; (3) the true distance to the cluster is about 590 pc, placing it in the Puppis-Vela sector of the local spiral arm; (4) the angular diameter of the cluster is 19 arcmin, which corresponds to a linear diameter of 3.3 pc; and (5) the age of NGC 2527 is approximately 1 billion years.
