Ionospheric E-region drift measurements have been made at Ibadan between 1958 and 1974 and the velocity data have been analyzed for possible solar-cycle effect. It has been found that both the true velocity and the apparent velocity of the full correlation analysis are not dependent on the solar cycle. This result is shown to be consistent with the hypothesis that the solar-cycle variation in the equatorial E-region current intensity is due principally to corresponding variation in the E-region electron density.
