The equation of state and chemical composition of degenerate matter (densities between 10 to the 11th and 10 to the 17th power g/cu cm) are investigated in the case of neutrino retention for initial lepton/baryon number ratios of 0.3 to 0.5. The results obtained for subnuclear densities indicate a shift of nuclei of given chemical composition to higher-density regions as well as difficulty in forming a free neutrino gas. It is found that the lepton contribution to pressure and density is large at supranuclear densities and that the order of hyperon production changes at the same densities. The possibility is considered that a degenerate antimuon gas and a free positive-pion gas may be produced at densities of the order of 10 to the 18th power g/cu cm.
