We present new constraints on the substellar mass function of the local solar neighborhood using a Bayesian statistical approach. Two data sets, which cover the late-M, L, and T dwarf regimes, are used to constrain model field luminosity functions constructed using the Burrows et al. (2001) evolutionary models. These mass function constraints are used to predict the detection rates of cool brown dwarfs in the two large areal coverage SIRTF Legacy programs, SWIRE and GLIMPSE.
