There have been some problems in the past with attempts to incorporate magnetic fields into the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method. We present new, stable algorithms for Smoothed Particle Magnetohydrodynamics (SPMHD) which overcome the previous limitations and are shown to give robust and accurate results on the standard battery of test problems used to benchmark grid-based MHD codes.
The algorithm is currently being applied to star formation problems.
