The article presents a simple technique for the study of X-ray radiation of metallic vapours, which is applied to the set of metals Sc-Ni. The characteristic K X-ray lines are found to show a structure that is not resolved in solid state. The shifts of maxima of the components of doublet Kα1,2 in vapour state in comparison with solid state are measured for the investigated elements. These shifts are in the range Δλ/λ ≅ 10-5-10-4.
