H 159-alpha and H 200-alpha line observations of nine positions near the Galactic center were made with a 30-m antenna at the Argentinian Radioastronomy Institute. The observations focused on the extragalactic H II region 30 Doradus, and the galactic H II region RCW 38, RCW 97, RCW 74, Carina, and W 33. Three of the regions (RCW 38, RCW 74, and the Carina Nebula) show evidence of stimulated emission. Detections of the H 200-alpha line above the noise-level occurred in only two of the nine positions. The results suggest that there are departures from LTE conditions in the central high density regions of some of the observed galactic H II regions.
