A simple circuit for a low-cost pulse amplifier for photon-counting
applications is described, designed around one integrated circuit. The
integrated circuit has a fixed gain of 100, a bandwidth of 100 MHz, and
a discriminator with output pulses as narrow as 10 nsec.
