The seasonal variation of the semi-diurnal tide is established in the upper mesosphere from meteor radar observations, such as those made at Garchy (France). A classical propagation model, using a realistic excitation source from ozone and water vapor solar heating, can account for most of the seasonal variation characteristics, and in particular for the difference between summer and winter features.
