A numerical model is developed for the spatial F region which accounts for the effect of electric fields directed to the east and to the west. Calculated results are analyzed for a disturbed equatorial ionosphere where the longitude component of the electric field may assume various values and orientations. It is shown that in a disturbed ionosphere, variation of electron concentration depends on the initial state of the nondisturbed ionosphere and character of electric field changes.
