We point out that the accurate measurements of the amplitude of the dipole anisotrophy of the cosmic microwave background at several wavelengths expected in the near future may help in detecting small distortions of the spectrum. On the other hand accurate spectral measurements are needed for a precise interpretation of the observed anisotropy. We stress the importance of obtaining measurements at as many wavelengths as possible.
