Infrared excess at 4.8 microns has been found for 60% of 82 Bp and Ap stars measured photoelectrically at 1.25-4.8 microns. The maximum excess is shown to decrease with increasing spectral type from BO to FO. The correlation with the magnetic field adopted for helium-variable early B stars does not hold for the whole sample of stars studied: there are several stars which show excess and no magnetic field and there are stars with a strong magnetic field and no or only small excess.
