Measurements of the cosmogenic Be-10 abundance in polar ice have been
used to estimate temporal variations of cosmic rays over the past
150,000 years. It is suggested that the supernova explosion which took
place at a distance of about 50 pc 35,000 years ago may be the cause of
the observed Be-10 and C-14 production rate enhancement.
