X-ray observations provide a powerful and unique, yet oft-neglected, means of addressing fundamental puzzles and paradoxes with regard to the chemodynamical evolution of elliptical galaxies. We present results of our investigation into the global hot ISM abundance pattern derived using elliptical galaxy X-ray spectra extracted from Suzaku and XMM-Newton X-ray Observatory data. We find that explanation of the roughly solar patterns do not require exceptionally low Type Ia supernova (SNIa) rates, due to the effectiveness of accretion of subsolar metallicity external gas in reducing the overall ISM metallicity and diluting the effectiveness of SNIa to induce an ISM Fe overabundance. These results indicate a complex flow and enrichment history that reflects the dynamic, continually evolving nature of elliptical galaxies. We acknowledge support by NASA ADP (NNX11AD36G), and Suzaku and XMM-Newton Guest Observer Programs.
