Chandra provides the unprecedented spatial resolution to resolve the X-ray point sources in distant galaxies. Here we report our recently completed work to study the X-ray point source populations in 383 nearby galaxies with archived Chandra ACIS observations. The catalog of more than 11,000 point sources is published in ApJS, and here we characterize this catalog, and report some extended studies such as the X-ray luminosity functions for different types of galaxies.
