The effects of atmospheric turbulence on astronomical observations from the Observatorio del Teide (Tenerife) and the Observatorio Roque de los Muchachos (La Palma) in the Canary Islands are characterized, summarizing the results of recent measurement campaigns. Data on image quality, atmospheric transmission, and IR conditions are presented in graphs and compared with similar data from the UKIRT (Mauna Kea), and the need for detailed measurements of isoplanatic angle and speckle lifetime is indicated. The general suitability of the Canaries as observatory sites is confirmed.
