The lack of experimental values of the Lande factors is a source of uncertainties in studies of stellar magnetic fields. In his new magnetic tape of atomic data for the lines of iron-period elements, Kurucz provides theoretical values of the Lande factor for those levels for which no experimental determination is available. From the consideration of two examples (Fe I lines in the sun, and Fe II and Cr II lines in the Ap star HD 187474), these new theoretical values appear, in spite of some weaknesses, considerably better than the values computed by simple formulae for pure coupling schemes, which most often had to be employed in the past.
