Planetary coronae are resonance line emissions from planetary exospheres which result from scattered sunlight. The best studied is the Lyá corona of the Earth, but most other planets also have hydrogen and helium coronae as well. The weakly-bound atmospheres of Titan and Pluto have particularly extended coronae. Recently, many new observations of planetary coronae have been made (e.g., from HST-STIS, FUSE, and other platforms) and the accurate simulation of these data can provide important estimates of the escape fluxes of gases from various solar system bodies. However, most in-depth modeling of the radiative transfer of planetary coronae is considerably out of date. We have recently developed a new resonance line radiative transfer model capable of accurately simulating non-thermal effects during multiple scattering. Here we apply this model to recent data for Jupiter.
