Progress in the study of the structure, stability, wave transmission and energy transfer processes at the Earth's magnetopause is reviewed. Theoretical models and computer simulation of the rotational and tangential discontinuities are reported. Particle and momentum transport associated with plasma instabilities, such as Kelvin-Helmholtz instability, lower-hybrid-drift instability, and modified two-stream instability, at the magnetopause is considered.
