The past decade has seen a remarkable improvement in the completeness and accuracy of atomic data for X-ray astrophysics. We will demonstrate the importance of reliable spectral models with specific new results from X-ray astrophysics, including applications to feedback in AGN, accretion in young stars, and opacity (or not) in the solar corona. This work is supported by the Chandra X-ray Observatory Center.
