From precise position measurements of the loop prominence of 1981 April 27 and a comparison with the hard X-ray images obtained simultaneously by SXT on board Hinotori, we establish that the hard X-ray sources were located at the foot points of the flare loop, thus providing strong evidence for the thick target emission mechanism of X-rays. Further, combined with the Hα tracking films, the above result also provides strong support for the current sheet model in the interpretation of the impulsive, flash and main phases of flares.
