The power spectrum of sudden-ionospheric-disturbance (SID) occurrence obtained from published observations for the maximum-activity period from January, 1978, to September, 1982, is analyzed. Significant frequencies corresponding to periods of 27.02, 18.0, and 13.5 days are identified and attributed to at least four active longitudes (in 60-deg-separated pairs of 180-deg-separated lines) on the solar disk.
