Spectroscopic Binary

Scientific paper

The seventh-magnitude star HD 181958 has been found to be a double-lined spectroscopic binary comprising a pair of almost equal F-dwarf stars. The system has an eccentricity of 0.277 and a period of 1102 days. Our estimates of the masses of the components and orbital inclination, i~64 deg, suggest that the angular size of the orbit is about 0.05 arcsec, making this system a potentially worthwhile target for investigation by interferometric instruments.
