Accurate orbits of Samos 2 are computed from observations during the period from mid-April to mid-September 1971 when the 31:2 resonance was affecting the orbit. The lumped harmonic coefficients of order 31 in the geopotential are evaluated from changes that occur in the inclination and eccentricity during the resonance period. The decrease in inclination (0.16 deg) of Samos 2 from 1961 to 1971 is also examined and found to be due mainly to solar gravitational perturbations.
