The relative importance of the planetary nebulae and novae for the enrichment of N in the interstellar medium of the galaxy is reevaluated. It is estimated that the ejected shell masses of novae are about an order of magnitude smaller than previously thought. The implications of this results for galactic chemical evolution are examined. It is shown that novae might be an important source of N-15, C-13 and O-17 enrichment of the interstellar medium but not of N-14.
