It is shown that the analysis of light curves of cataclysmic binaries which undergo double total eclipses yields a relation for the size of the accretion disk which can be expressed as a slowly varying function of the binary's mass ratio. Therefore, the light curve analysis provides a reliable estimate of the disk's size even in cases where the mass ratio is not exactly known. In particular, repeated photometric observations of the eclipse events during the quiescent phase should thus allow, in a relatively easy way, the monitoring of changes of the disk's size between the outbursts. Results of applying the method to recent observations of the dwarf novae Z Cha and OY Car are briefly discussed.
