Preliminary analyses and identifications have been carried out on Jilin Meteorite samples for their compounds, discovering a wide variety of organic compounds, namely n-alkanes (nC17 - nC31), polyalkyl-substituted aromatic hydrocarbons, phytane, pristane, porphyrins, pigments and alpha-alanine, valine, glycine, isoleucine, beta-alanine, leucine, proline, threonine, and probably pyrimidine, purine and guanidine derivatives as well. The results obtained have been discussed herein, indicating that the organic compounds present in the Jilin Meteorite are similar to those found in other carbonaceous chondrites discovered elsewhere, thus precluding the possibility that the compounds are introduced by terrestrial contamination. Nevertheless, the Jilin Meteorite showns noticeable difference in the content of organic compounds identified from other carbonaceous chondrites, which may be attributed to the different conditions for each of the formation stages of the Jilin parent body.
