A method is proposed for determining the orientation of the rotation axis and the shape of an asteroid on the basis of photometric observations. Two different models are considered. Application of the method to photoelectric photometry of Eros shows it to be highly effective. Asymmetry of an asteroid has been established in this manner for the first time.
