The variability of the hot star K 1082 in the globular cluster M 15 is studied. The variation with a period of 0.087004 days and a full magnitude of 0.2 found by Chu (1977) on blue-sensitive plates taken in 1956 and 1957 was sought by iris photometer measurements of blue-sensitive plates taken in 1967, 1968 and 1972 and in 1978. The standard deviation of the magnitude of K 1082 is found to be significantly greater than that of the nearby star K 1073 in the 1967, 1968 and 1972 plates, appearing to confirm the variability of K 1082, however there is no evidence for a variation on the 1978 plate, which also showed a decrease in the magnitude of K 1082. Measurements of the brightness of K 1082 on plates taken between 1896 and 1906 with a 33-mm Boyden refractor provide strong evidence of no long-term variations of the star in this period, and plots of the 1967 to 1968 magnitudes against the relative phase of the period reported by Chu inconclusively suggest a fit of the data. Further observations to definitely determine the variability of K 1082 are urged.
