Two dimensional photon counters that preserve the temporal ordering of the photons in a form suitable for a new algorithm for speckle imaging are described. Specifications are given for such a device that is under development and attention is given to a commercially available device that is being procured. The calibration and sensitivity of the speckle imaging algorithm are also discussed.
