Some results are presented from a new model which considers the multiple scattering of the solar radiation in the dust coma. The feedback of the dust coma on the sublimation of the surface of the cometary nucleus leads to a slight increase of gas and dust production rather than to the expected decrease by screening over a wide range of heliocentric distances. For the situation of the Comet Halley flyby, the terminal velocities of the dust grains resulting from the hydrodynamic interaction with the gas can be approximated in a simple form. The apex distance and maximum grain size are calculated.
