Observations have been made using the University of Durham Mark 6 telescope of the nearby X-ray selected BL Lacs PKS 2005-489 and PKS 0548-322 which should be strong candidates as sources of TeV emission. We find no evidence for longterm emission of VHE gamma rays from these sources in extended measurements covering ~2 years. We find 3 σ limits to the VHE gamma ray flux of 0.79×10-11 cm-2 s-1 above 400 GeV for PKS 2005-489 and 2.4×10-11 cm-2 s-1 above 300 GeV for PKS 0548-322. .
