Spectra of the bright Seyfert galaxy Markarian 744 were obtained with a 6-m telescope in the spectral region double gamma 3700-7400 AA. More than 140 lines were identified; among the weak lines, the allowed Fe II and forbidden lines of Fe were most numerous. A strong similarity between Markarian 744 and an average galaxy of the Sy type was observed based on the intensities of the forbidden lines and their widths.
