We discuss the results of ROSAT observations of the FR I radio galaxies 3C 31, 3C 264, 3C 270 and 3C 465. The X-ray emission from the central regions of the first and the third source is fit by a composite spectrum with a thermal component (from the hot corona surrounding the galaxy) and a power law component (from the active nucleus). A non thermal emission is consistent with the whole flux from 3C 264, while only an upper limit to it is found in 3C 465. The implications for the unified schemes for AGN are shortly discussed. .
