The minimum flux corona theory was developed originally to estimate the mechanical heating requirements of coronae of OB supergiants, which could explain the observed mass loss rates. Criticisms of this theory have been published by Antiochos and Underwood (1978) and by Vaiana and Rosner (1978). The present paper discusses these criticisms. It is shown that although these criticisms are correct for some details, the criticisms of the overall theory are unjustified.
