The analyses of two spectral scans of Vega from Copernicus are presented. The continuous energy distribution from the far UV to the near IR is compared with the predicted flux distribution according to different LTE blanketed models with the same parameters. The chemical composition is derived from the curve of growth and from the LTE model atmosphere analysis, and the abundances of some elements derived from the UV spectra differ from those obtained from the visual data. The abundances derived from the UV data are more strictly related to the assumed value of the microturbulence parameter. The microturbulence values required to obtain the same abundance for each element over the whole spectrum are specified, and it was proposed to introduce a depth-dependent value of the microturbulence in the spectral analysis over a large range of wavelengths.
