The magnetic interaction of stars in close binary systems in the presence of an interstellar plasma of rather high density is studied. The objective is to determine the conditions under which the inductive mechanism results in a magnetic field increase in binary systems, and to obtain an estimate of its growth rate. It is shown that under specified conditions the magnetic field of the stars can increase. The characteristic time of the increase in the magnetic field is determined. A field-generation mechanism is proposed, which can be applied to novae and symbiotic stars.
