We report simultaneous X-ray and optical photometry of LMC X-2, to search for correlated variability on timescales from seconds to hours. Our results show evidence for a lag between the X-ray and optical variations of ~6-16 s. Given the likely binary size this suggests that the X-ray reprocessing time is not instantaneous, but has a finite time added, possibly due to the (poorly understood) interaction with the disc's ``atmosphere''. These data are compared with similar archival studies of Sco X-1. .
