A survey of the location of the high altitude cusp and entry layer during the first year of Cluster operations has been performed utilizing data from the PEACE and FGM instruments. Both regions were identified by bi-directional plasma between 40 to 400eV and within a factor of 5 of the magnetosheath differential energy flux. The cusp region was distinguished from the entry layer with the additional criteria of Bz < 0 and a dip in the magnitude of the magnetic field. Using these criteria 22 cusp crossings and 29 entry layer crossings were identified. Magnetic field data from ACE was used to identify the IMF conditions. The survey showed no noticeable difference in location of the cusp, in invariant latitude, for northward and southward IMF. Also was no difference between the location of the entry layer and the cusp region, in invariant latitude was observed. The cusp region was observed from 0730MLT to 1430MLT there was no increase in the probability of observation close to 1200MLT which has been reported to occur for low altitude (around 1000km) surveys [Newell et al. 1989]. The entry layer occurred mainly in the morning sector.
