We study high frequency waves in the electron foreshock region using WHISPER and PEACE data. Wave spectra measured give evidence that the oscillations observed in that region propagate in the electron sound mode. This is related to the presence of two electron populations "hot" and "cold". Electron sound waves are generated in the frequency range close and lower than electron plasma frequency. However their dispersion is different from that of the Langmuir waves, and does not allow the decay instability to play any role in the wave dynamics. Therefore the saturation of instability requires different physical processes to be involved. We discuss the evolution of the spectrum of these waves.
